We are happy to congratulate the graduates of the course Certificate II in Construction! The candidates successfully completed all their theory and practical components of the course. Lynne Sheffield, their trainer was particularly impressed by the effort and hard work the candidates put in to achive this fantastic result. While most of the practical and theory components were completed in our Fyshwick training center, the candidates were also taken to real worksites and carried out parts of their assessments there.
The program was funded through the Skilled Capital Canberra, an ACT Government initiative focusing on getting the candidates the right skills to enter the construction industry. We are also grateful to CTR Pacific for their help in making this program a reality. As part of the program the candidates successfully completed a project.
During the final stages of the program, candidates were encouraged to apply for jobs for various construction companies across Canberra. Lynne Sheffield’s knowledge of the industry experts in Canberra was an immense source of knowledge for candidates, she helped them draft their resumes, spoke to site managers as a referee and explained the processes involved with applying for construction jobs.
Following the graduation ceremony, the candidates said that they felt more confident in entering the industry with all the practical training they received from the course. One of the participants expressed an interest in becoming a bricklayer and another has started their interest in construction in Landscaping. The Certificate II in training and construction has proven to be more than just a standalone course which gives a nationally recognized qualification, it can open pathways to many interesting career options.
